Support Tutorials for Family Carers

Dementia is NOT just about memory loss. Our information courses enable family care-givers to really understand how dementia affects the brain. After following our online tutorials you as a family care giver will be better able to empathise with people with dementia, to help and support them with every day life and to make life happier and more fulfilling for them. Your knowledge and understanding will mean that you can care for those with dementia with less stress for yourself and more satisfaction and hope for them.

We provide the following video tutorials:

Module 1 – Dementia Information for recently diagnosed

What is dementia? A short overview of the different types of dementia and an (optional) discussion of the particular dementia you are interested in or have had diagnosed. (This section is optional because not everyone knows what type of dementia has been diagnosed).

A clear outline of the symptoms which might be experienced and an explanation of what medical options are available and what benefits and possible side effects may be experienced from taking memory medication.

A brief discussion of non-medical alternatives/lifestyle options which can help – this will be expanded in module 4.
